Maintaining good gut health

'Gut health' is a trending topic at the moment. Today I'm going to share with you what you can do to maintain good gut health.

Despite what you may see on the internet and on social media, here's what you DON'T need to do:

  • Go on a detox

  • Do a fast

  • Do a 'juice cleanse'

  • Drastically change your diet

  • Take expensive supplements

  • Cut out sugar or any of your favourite foods

Here's what you CAN do:

  • Consume adequate fibre

  • Consume omega-3 fatty acids - fish (especially salmon) avocado, nuts and seeds, plant oils

  • Include fermented dairy (unless you have an intolerance)

  • Limit saturated fat intake (don't cut it out completely if you enjoy it from time to time)

  • Consume alcohol in moderation

  • Eat enough food for your energy requirements

It's as simple as that!

If you ticked all of the boxes above and are still having issues, then it may be a good idea to seek help from a professional.
